BMW's 7-Series lineup for 2007 starts with the regular wheelbase 750i for $75,800. For more legroom, the 750Li offers a longer wheelbase for $3,100. Both 750s use a 4.8L V8 that makes a healthy 361 horsepower.
The formally-top-of-the-heap car is the BMW 760Li with its 438-horsepower V12 engine. Aside from its 6.0L engine and accompanying suspension tweaks, the 760Li also receives larger wheels, enhanced interior appointments, an upgraded audio system, and power shades for all rear windows. Completing the 2007 model range, 200 lucky and prosperous BMW fans will be able to purchase a BMW Alpina B7. The well-know tuner has added a supercharger to the V8 engine and wound up with 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Suitable chassis, interior and exterior changes, and trim complete the package. As BMW's premier model, the 7-Series comes standard with just about any feature imaginable and then some. Like most ultra-luxury vehicles on the road, all 7-Series models have Bluetooth, push-button start, heated/vented leather seats with memory, a moonroof, xenon adaptive headlights with washers, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic climate control. A navigation system is part of BMW's much-discussed iDrive system. Unusual standard features include climate controlled center console storage area which can be supplemented with an optional rear climate controlled storage area, and rear window shades on the 760Li. A long list of options enables buyers to add night vision, a heated steering wheel, satellite radio, and active cruise control. The 760Li carries its heft with 51% up front and 49% in the spacious rear. This near perfect balance helps to make this large sedan feel more nimble when pressed hard. Clearly the big Bimmer's mission is comfort, but the engineers haven't forgotten the company's mission of making all their products fun to drive. BMW has enhanced the 2007 7-Series with a number of new options, more standard features and a new model available in very limited quantities. BMW Roadside Assistance is now included for four years. The Individual Package upgrades the interior with Merino leather, an assortment of exclusive wood trim selections, and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Following today's audio trends, there is now an auxiliary input for an iPod. Parking in tight quarters has been made easier with power-folding exterior mirrors. BMW Alpina B7, new for 2007, is a limited-edition 7-Series with a supercharged V8 that makes a remarkable 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. Power; luxury; exceptional driving dynamics; prestige. The 2007 BMW 7-Series offers drivers the opportunity to experience the ultimate luxury version of BMW's ultimate driver's car. While all BMWs offer a balance of power, handling and fun, the 7-Series does so with a full-size high-end cabin. There are other full-size sedans that offer this sort of spaciousness, and a few luxury sedans that have similar amounts of wood, leather, and other high quality materials. But if you enjoy truly driving your luxury sedan, only a BMW 7-Seires can successfully scratch that itch. |
